More information on the route

The Häme Lynx Trail - Hattula is part of the wider Häme Lynx Trail, which is more than 250 km in total length. The trail connects the wonderful recreational and nature destinations of Hattula, Hämeenlinna's Ahvenisto, Tammela’s national parks and Riihimäki Riutta to Häme Lake Highlands. Along the trail, you can learn about Häme's rich history at the “Emperor’s Pine” (Keisarinmänty), visit the Parola Armour Museum, climb to the hilltop fort ruins of Linnavuori at Tenhola, which was already in use during the Iron Age, or discover the dark secret of Marttaristi. The trail is a relatively easy esker trail that passes through heath terrain and follows a forest and asphalt road for part of the way. There are hardly any roots or rocks on the trail. Follow the Lynx Trail - Hattula signs. Start from the Pikku-Parola parking area, head towards Parolannummentie and turn onto a small side road towards the forest. At the end of the road, a hiking trail starts at Parolankangas, which is marked by cycling signs. The rugged terrain has rapid descents and steep, short climbs. Upon reaching Hattulantie, you can bypass the intersection at Lehijärventie and visit the Armoured Museum nearby. Turn off of Hattulantie to Lehijärventie, which continues as a gravel road near the shore of Lake Lehijärvi all the way to Ihalentie. After the intersection, take the bridge over the railway line and continue to the Merventie intersection. At this point, you can choose whether to take the Merventie bike trail or the ski track bed on the left, which branches to the left at the intersection of Teollisuustie and leads to the parking lot of the Tenhola outdoor trail network. The trail runs through esker terrain and occasionally branches off into a smaller trail. At Linnavuori in Tenhola, you can descend the hill to a lean-to shelter or climb the stairs to the ruins of the fortress. From the lean-to shelter, continue towards Ruskeenharju. Upon reaching the halfway point, turn to the right, following the trail markings. Descend from the esker and turn right onto the sandy road, which runs approximately 1.2 km until the trail turns up to the right and back to Ruskeenharju. From here, continue along the same route back to the Parola parking area.
