Tervaniemi has something to do for the whole family all year round. Versatile hiking paths, swimming beach, beach volley pitch, campfire hut and dogs’ swimming place invite you to spend the day outdoors in the summer. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you can take the wooded trail that takes you around the Tervaniemi headland following the shoreline.

In the winter, you can ski on the lit cross-country skiing track. There is a whipsledge on the ice by the shore. When the ice on the lake becomes thick enough, you can skate all the way to Soininsaari island along a tour skating route. The cross-country skiing network takes you all the way to Suvipielinen, Katinkoski and Ahvenisto.

Soininsaari is a large, uninhabited, wooded natural island on Alajärvi. It offers an opportunity to find peace and quiet and experience genuine solitude near the city. The island is very wooded with lush vegetation, and it has very rich birdlife. The Soininsaari nature conservation areas have small-leaved lime forests where walking is permitted.

The island has a campfire site and a lean-to shelter, as well as a walking trail and a swimming place.

Parking area address: Tervaniementie 32-36, 13500 Hämeenlinna You can reach Tervaniemi easily with the Hämeenlinna local buses which go to Loimalahti. The closest bus stop is “Loimalahti”. You can find routes and timetables in Hämeenlinna’s route planner. By bike, Tervaniemi is 30 minutes away from Hämeenlinna train station.

In the Tervaniemi area, there are accessible parking spaces in two different locations. The spaces are large enough, with a level and firm surface. There is an information board in the area. Along the route from the parking spaces to the campfire hut there is a rubbish bin and a firewood box. The firewood box has logs that have already been split. The rubbish bin’s lid is at a height of 126 cm, but the lid can be opened with one hand. The route to the campfire hut is on a sandy path, and sufficiently wide. There is some unevenness on the route. There is free space and gravel in front of the campfire hut. The area around the fire is even and hard. Access ways are sufficiently wide at 122 cm. The campfire is at a height of 55.5 cm. The height of the barbecue grill grate can be adjusted and turned away from the fire. There is an accessible toilet in the area with a slightly raised threshold. The toilet space will have motion detector lights.
