The Vähäniemi-Tohkoo Nature Recreation Area is home to dry, rugged pine cliffs and leafy hollows. From the lookout tower you can admire views of the Häme lake landscape. The clear-water lake is ideal for fishing, canoeing, and swimming.

Description

The Vähäniemi-Tohkoo Nature Recreation Area invites outdoor lovers on land and on water to take a break. In Vähäniemi, the cliff rises from the lake into the embrace of a mossy forest, and continues to a lichen-covered cliff. The trails in Vähäniemi invite you for a walk, and the lookout tower allows you to admire the forest and the lake from treetop level. Stop at the campfire site to take a break and enjoy the peace of nature. From the jetty and the beach, you can try your luck fishing or take a swim in the lake. Boaters and paddlers can land at the jetty.

The recreation area consists of two headlands on the clear Lake Iso-Roine. There are no services in Tohkoo, but the area is open to all under everyman’s rights. Vähäniemi is accessible by land and by water, and offers an outdoor trail, a swimming area, a lookout tower, a harbour, and a campfire site.

Parking area address: Laivarannantie 29-27, 14930 Hämeenlinna. The area has space for about 10 cars. There is an information board in the parking area with a detailed map of the area and its services. The parking area is not maintained in the winter. For those arriving by water, there is a harbour at the tip of Vähäniemi.
