Enjoy the light art in Häme

Light art can be seen in Hämeenlinna and Hattula before and during Chistmas. First the light art festival Valoilmiö lightens up the city center of Hämeenlinna and Iittala Village. After that the Holy Cross Church will be illuminated and near Christmas and during the Holidays Häme Castle is illuminated.

Valoilmiö 23.-25.11.2023

Valoilmiö is a light art festival in Hämeenlinna, Finland. Valoilmiö celebrates the creativity of children and youth, with this year’s event featuring approximately 1,500 participants from local schools, daycares, and children’s art schools. The light art pieces are made in collaboration with artists, arteducators and local children and youth. The festival is free of charge and it will be held from November 23 to 25, 2023, in Hämeenlinna city center and Iittala Village.

Visitors can enjoy a walking art route through the city center, where artworks are displayed both outdoors and indoors. This year’s extensive program spreads across the Hämeenlinna city center and the Verkatehdas area, with a satellite event in Iittala Village. The festival offers light art pieces, workshops, performances, and exhibitions.

The Illumination of the Holy Cross Church 2.-7.12.2023

Hattula municipality celebrates a successful tourism year and the Year of the Finnish language with external lighting designed by Torvinen Showtekniikka for the Holy Cross Church from December 2nd to December 7th. In honor of the festive lighting, the church will be open to visitors on the weekend of December 2nd-3rd from 13:00 to 16:00.

The Illumination of Häme Castle 16.12.2023 – 4.1.2024

Häme Castle will be illuminated with festive lights for the Christmas and dark winter season. The lighting display will be visible from December 16, 2023, to January 4, 2024.

The festive lighting begins from the christmas market event ”Tuomaan Markkinat” on December 16 at 3:30 PM and will continue until January 4, 2024. Each day, the lighting will feature varying themes, including the enchantment of nature inspired by the “Royals of the Forests” exhibition, colorful festivals, a rustic country atmosphere, and winter wonderland.

The best viewing spots for this light art can be found along the lakeside route. The festive illumination will be carried out using energy-efficient LED lights.

Tammela Lux 18.-26.11.2023

18.-19.11. ITE light art workshops, where lanterns are made together from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  On Friday, November 24th, hanging of lanterns in Tammela’s village center, exhibition from Friday to Sunday. Kointähtönen Mass to the rhythm of Finnish folk music on Sunday, November 26th.

Kehräämö Light Trail 2.-12.12.2023

Forssa 100 – The centenary year culminates in the Kehräämö Light Trail. The Light Trail is on display from December 2nd to 12th. The opening of the Light Trail will be celebrated at Piippuakio on December 2nd at 3 p.m
