The route is mostly easy, but there are some sections with exposed roots and stones and steep hills, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
Description
Starting point: Pääjärvi parking area, Härkätie 1126, 14300 Hämeenlinna
The route initially follows forest paths and soon crosses the Hämeen Härkätie road. There is a bridge on the path, and the ground on both sides of the bridge may be wet.
After 700 metres, you cross the Härkätie road again. The route enters into a mossy spruce forest.
The path is in good condition, but narrow in places, with some exposed roots and stones. Along the way there are bridges and duckboards for crossing wet places and ditches.
The terrain varies in the middle of the route, as the trail passes through beautiful pine forests and mossy woods.
The duckboards on the north side of Pääjärvi will be below water when the water level rises. You can cross without shoes, and at its deepest the water rises to your shins.
After Kivilä you come to the Kynnysharju ridge, where the path turns sharp right.
The Kynnysharju ridge is an impressive narrow isthmus with a bridge over it. After the bridge, the path has duckboards.
In the Kynnysniemi nature reserve, you will encounter a steep and rocky hill, where you should take care.
The route continues towards the Pääjärvi lean-to shelter.
From the lean-to shelter you climb up the hill towards the Härkätie road.
The route turns left into the forest and after 800 metres it returns to the parking area.
