Fairytale moss forests, ridge trails, and traces of the Ice Age on the shores of peaceful Lake Pääjärvi. At the Pääjärvi Nature Recreation Area, you can experience true natural peace, as there are very few people in the surrounding area. Diverse nature and varied terrain invite you to explore your surroundings, while clearly marked routes and numerous rest areas make it easy to get around.
The diverse nature and varied terrain of Lake Pääjärvi offer great opportunities for hiking. Clearly marked trails and rest areas make it easy to spend time outdoors. Lake Pääjärvi has three circular trails of varying lengths: 1.5 km, 4.5 km and 7.5 km. The shorter routes are also suitable for families with children. Those who prefer longer routes can continue their journey on the Hämeen Ilvesreitti, Häme Lynx Trail.
The area is part of a vast landscape of ridges of about 70 hectares, with more than four kilometres of sandy beach and impressive ridges. The paths meander along the slopes of the ridges, but despite the climbing, they are easy to walk along. On the longer trails, the scenery varies from pine forests to birch woods and dense spruce woods, with the blue surface of Lake Pääjärvi glinting through the trees almost all the way. You can also encounter small ponds and swampy areas in the forest.
