Ypäjä – full gallop
Ypäjä municipality is located in the beautiful area of Tavastia proper. Ypäjä was founded in 1876, and now has about 2200 inhabitants. The Loimijoki River flows through beautiful forests and traditional green fields area.
Finland’s most famous horse area
Ypäjä is often called the capital of horses in Finland. It is best known for horses and horse events. If You are a ”horselover”, you will find it all here. Every year various horse races, show jumping, and dressage competions, combined driving competions, several trainings, and courses take place in Ypäjä.
Ypäjä Equine College is Finland’s largest equestrian institution, providing a variety of educational programs for aspiring professionals in the equine field.
Pure nature scenery
Ypäjä is surrounded by large, untouched forest areas as well as riverbank fields. From the Loimijoki River, which starts in Tammela and eventually flows into the Kokemäenjoki River, you can fish for rainbow trout, pike, chub, perch, zander, bream, and roach, among others. The river is also safe for boating and kayaking. The forests are rich with berries and mushrooms, and there are a few well-equipped lean-to shelters and forest cabins available for hikers.

Activities and culture
However, there is also a wide range of other activities and events, from SUP paddle boarding to golfing, and from many village markets to Ypäjä Night, and Perttu´s Day – a local event in August. Ypäjä’s Music Theater provides its spectacular performances in summertime.
