Vanajavesi Art Triangle

The Vanajavesi Art Triangle is a joint cultural route created by three art destinations located within a short driving distance of each other in the Häme region of Southern Finland.

The route connects Naivistit Iittalassa in Iittala, Voipaala Art Centre in Valkeakoski, and Visavuori Museum in Sääksmäki. Together, these three destinations form a compact art experience around Lake Vanajavesi, approximately one hour and a half north of Helsinki along the E12 highway (Highway 3).

Naivistit Iittalassa in Iittala presents Finland’s best-known annual naive art exhibition in a historic wooden school building. The summer exhibition features around 50 artists and over 500 new artworks each year, offering a broad overview of contemporary Finnish naive art in an intimate setting.

Voipaala Art Centre in Valkeakoski hosts changing exhibitions of contemporary art, photography and design in a lakeside manor environment. The centre combines historical surroundings with diverse artistic content and cultural programming throughout the year.

Visavuori Museum in Sääksmäki introduces the former home and studio of sculptor Emil Wikström. In addition to sculpture and cultural history, the museum presents works by caricaturist Kari Suomalainen, whose expressive political cartoons played a significant role in Finnish visual culture.

The short distances between the destinations make it easy to explore all three during one day as a self-guided cultural route.
