More information on the route
Tiny Sisu’s Tour is a part of Häme by Cycle gravel & bikepacking Routes. It is a cycling adventure for the whole family in Janakkala, combining the history of the Kanta-Häme region, varied nature, and comfortable rest stops. The 12 km route offers an exciting day out for cyclists of all ages and levels. Turenki’s restaurants and cafés make it easy to keep the whole party refuelled without taking a packed lunch with you. Town centre services are within easy reach, and you can reward little cyclists at the local ice-cream kiosk. Accommodation is available in Turenki or Kiipula. The route starts at Turenki railway station, which is easy to reach by train from all over Southern Finland. Right at the start, you can take a dip in the lake and continue along the birch-lined road along Hiidenjoki River. Along the way, the scenery varies from forest strips to wide open fields, and halfway along the route you reach Laurinmäki’s nature and cultural area – a historical highlight of the trip. Laurinmäki invites you to stop and explore the area on foot. The 19th century farmstead, World War I trenches, and the nature trails in the area take you on a trip back in time. Along the trails you can explore an Iron Age sacrificial cairn, a sacrificial spring and cup stones. If you’re travelling light, you can stop for a snack at Keltainen Talo summer café when it is open. The medieval stone church of Pyhä Lauri stands proud at the highest point of the route. From the church, the route descends mostly downhill back towards Turenki where the final experience of the route is a refreshing stop at Liinalammi swimming beach. Tiny Sisu’s Tour is designed to be a relaxing and safe cycling experience for the whole family. The route mainly follows cycle paths, with some easy dirt roads, and a short stretch of easy trails. You can buy refreshments from the shops in Turenki, or enjoy the local restaurants before or after the ride. This is not a one-off tour – the route will delight you over several visits. The combination of spending time together, nature, and history makes it a great day out for cyclists looking for an easy and memorable day out.
