Metsänvartijan Tila has smoke sauna traditions that date back over a hundred years. The smoke sauna is heated using the same methods that were used centuries ago.

The first smoke sauna at Metsänvartijan Tila was built in the early 1900s. It is no longer used for bathing, but the building still stands in its original place. Lovers of smoke saunas can enjoy the gentle steam in a newer sauna building. The atmospheric rural idyll completes the experience and offers a relaxing escape from everyday life.

In keeping with tradition, visitors can cool off from the warming smoke sauna by taking a dip in Lake Sääjärvi all year round — even in winter, when a hole is drilled in the ice at the end of the pier. Those who prefer warmer water can relax in the terrace hot tub, which accommodates up to six bathers at a time.

The gentle steam of Metsänvartijan Tila’s traditional smoke sauna can be enjoyed by advance reservation both during the heat of summer and the frosts of winter.
