The Iittala Glass Factory offers a unique opportunity to see the production of all kinds of glass artefacts, as talented glassblowers create Aalto vases as well as Oiva Toikka birds and common utility articles from molten glass. Guided tours are available.
The story of Iittala began already 140 years ago, in 1881, when a glass factory was founded in the village of Iittala. That is where the world-famous design history of Iittala begins. The factory is still operating, and it is where the best known Finnish glass design artefact, Alvar Aalto’s Aalto or Savoy vase, is made.
