Häme Lynx Trail: Heinisuo loop 2.5 km

Pillisuontie, Hämeenlinna

Hämeenlinna

More information

Take a day trip to the immersive old forest of Heinisuo and its open, nature-rich marshland.
The route follows narrow paths and duckboards. It is especially suitable for enjoying the wonders of nature.

Heinisuo is part of national bog and forest protection programmes. The natural stream flowing through the area is rare in Häme and adds to the charm of the place. Heinisuo is home to the flying squirrel, and its bog species and natural forest make the area an important conservation site.

Description

The circular trail passes through lush, natural forest before reaching the bog at Heinisuo. Along the way, you can already admire the bog from the path, from the shelter of the forest. The path has exposed roots and it is wet in places, so you are advised to wear appropriate shoes. On the eastern side of the bog there are also some ups and downs before you reach the bog.

The bog is traversed along duckboards, which are in poor condition in places. When walking along the duckboards, it’s worth watching where you step as well as admiring the landscape.

From the duckboards, the route returns to the forest’s embrace.
