Design Museum Iittala

There are five different exhibitions in the museum. The largest of them is the basic exhibition that presents the glass history of Iittala, and displays internationally acclaimed glass art and prominent serial design products from the late 19th to the 21st century. The exhibition focuses on the golden age of Finnish design and the central works of Tapio Wirkkala and Timo Sarpaneva which were born in this age.

The upstairs exhibition “Pilli, kuuppa ja muotti” (“Glass pipe, block, and mold”) concentrates on the most important tools for and techniques of glassblowing. There is also a collection of Hackman cutlery and Pro Arte artefacts like Oiva Toikka’s Iittala birds from the Nuutajärvi glass factory.
